EXAM PREPARATION COURSE

IELTS

- Entry Level IELTS study targeting high Pre-intermediate/ low Intermediate level learners aimed at IELTS band scores between 4-5. This a great introduction to IELTS and/or general English study.

- Full IELTS two course progressive programme each containing 32 hours of study aimed at Academic (or General) IELTS band score of 6+.

- Extension Level course featuring thematic (topic) based learning aimed at Academic IELTS band score of 6.5- 7.5+.

TOEIC

We provide a three course progressive programme. Each course contains 6 x 1.5hour lessons. Further specialised study is available on request.

TOEFL

To cover the full programme learners would need to commit to 50-70 hours of study. We recommend a minimum study course of 30 hours. With additional lessons and tests available.

We recommend a minimum study course of 30 hours to cover materials, although, additional lessons and practice tests are available. Most learners elect to continue to study over a longer period of time.

We have designed 20 hour lesson course - teaching learners the four disciplines required for the OET as well as strategies and tactics for handling the test.

Small classes (max5) mean that all students get time spent with them individually to help them understand and gain true learning. In a small class the students also learn from each other in a collaborative learning environment.

We assess learners’ English ability and needs, to recommend an appropriate text for study.
Learners are required to purchase their own copy for personal study and review; most common texts are able to be sourced by eccom on behalf of learners, if required.
We have developed a study method to create independent learners and provide one to two hours of self-study for every one hour of face to face class time.

IELTS COURSE

ec com has a range of study material for the IELTS Test but draws mostly on Cambridge University Press resources. All students are at different levels and have different strengths and weaknesses in English. It has been ec com’s experience that most students actually require more study than they first believe.

We provide three levels of study and whilst most students elect to take the Academic Module we also provide classes and strategies for those students who require the General Training Module.:

I. Entry Level IELTS study targeting high Pre-intermediate/low Intermediate level learners aimed at IELTS band scores between 4-5. This is a great introduction to IELTS and/or general English study. This study is not limited to a course length and classes run continuously whenever there is demand.

II. Full IELTS two course progressive programme each containing 32 hours of study aimed at Academic IELTS band score of 6 +.

Reading 8 x 2hr Lessons
Writing (Task 1) 6 x 2hr Lessons
Writing (Task 2) 6 x 2hr Lessons
Listening 16 x 1hr Lessons

Combined 2 hour Listening & Speaking 8 x 1hr Lessons

Total 64+ hours undertaken in two progressive courses by either 1 or 2 x 2hr lessons per week over an 8/16 week period (for each course). The cost of each course is NZ $960.00 plus GST = NZ $1,104.00

III. Extension Level course featuring thematic (topic) based learning aimed at Academic IELTS band score of 6.5- 7.5 +. This study is not limited to a course length and classes run continuously whenever there is demand.

ec com provides classes with a maximum of 5 students when there is the demand. It is also important to note that for every 2-hour lesson, learners should spend between two and four hours studying and reviewing lesson content, vocabulary and strategies. Thus, our courses of 32 hours tuition provide 60 to 90hours of study for learners who are willing to apply themselves.

Additional supplementary classes can be arranged for all four disciplines of IELTS (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing), as well, as vocabulary and grammar for IELTS. We can put together short courses and/or classes based on individual learners needs and requirements. We are able prepare classes to focus on all aspects of IELTS.
